HOW TO READ A CARD

Hear it, notice it, say it, then use it.

US IPA is used when the pronunciation source contains the entry; every word and phrase can also be read by your browser’s American English voice. Frequency bands guide order, but a frequency rank is not a difficulty score. Mark an item mastered only when you can understand it in context and use it yourself.

COVERAGE & DATA NOTES

Counts are checked entries, not placeholder cards.

Word-family grouping follows the BNC/COCA family resource; American spoken priority uses SUBTLEX-US; academic labels use NAWL 1.2; US IPA comes from the open IPA dictionary; meanings and phrase entries come from ECDICT. A phrase must be a real multiword dictionary entry with a Chinese meaning—ordinary adjacent strings are excluded.
